More accidents reported as the Festive season starts

Eight people were left injured this morning after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on the Polly Shorts Road in Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the taxi lying on its side on the side of the road while the light motor vehicle had come to a stop a short distance away.

Upon inspection, paramedics found the driver seated inside his light motor vehicle while the occupants had already climbed out of the taxi.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that eight from the taxi had sustained minor to moderate injuries. The driver of the light motor vehicle was assessed and found to have escaped injury.

The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Northdale Hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
