Taxi crashes into ditch leaving eight injured

VEREENIGING.- ER24 reports that eight people were left injured this morning when a taxi crashed into a water-filled ditch off the Houtkop Road in Vereeniging.

ER24 paramedics, along with the provincial services, arrived on the scene finding the taxi on the side of the road, lying in a water-filled ditch. The occupants had already climbed out of the taxi and were walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that eight had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no fatalities were found on the scene. The patients were treated on the scene for their injuries and were thereafter transported to Kopanong Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the accident is still unknown but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
