Sad news from Midvaal’s Vaal Marina area

Tornado hits Vaal Dam Town

A devastating storm hit the area earlier today. Irene Main, well-known Midvaal resident, reports that the situation is still hectic. There are roofs off all over and many trees were uprooted, and electricity poles and cables are down on the roads. The whole of the Mamello Community’s shanty homes were flattened and there are several injuries.
There’s a huge need of food for approximately 1100 people.
Albert de Klerk, the Midvaal Municipal Manager and Mayor Bongani Baloyi reacted immediately and dispatched disaster management which residents are very grateful for. They are both still in Vaal Marina. If anyone can donate food and bedding please contact Irene on 078 521 1676.
