Operation Fiela cleans Vereeniging

The officials went on to pounce on houses said to be utilised by sex workers in Stanley Avenue.

VEREENIGING. – The South African Police Services (SAPS), Department of Correctional Services and the Department of Immigration left no stone unturned as they raided several suspicious shops, taverns and houses in Vereeniging over the weekend.

The officials went on to pounce on houses said to be utilised by sex workers in Stanley Avenue. In another house suspects with expired documentation were also arrested after they were found hiding under a bed. One shop owner complained about how members of Correctional Services ill-treated him as they went straight into his shop to switch off a CCTV camera before ‘rewarding themself’ by looting cash and seizing his cellphone.

Operation Fiela was conducted by the Visible Police under the leadership of their commander, Colonel Mncedisi Mabala. Among illegal material confiscated during the five-hour operation were cigarettes, expired chocolates and fraudulent documents.
