VEREENIGING.- A baby girl believed to be a year old was killed this morning while two other people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious after a bakkie and a light motor vehicle collided on the R54 in Three Rivers in Vereeniging.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 08H00, they found a woman still entrapped in the Kia Picanto. Midvaal Fire and Rescue extricated the woman with the jaws of life. She sustained serious injuries.
A baby girl was also found in the Kia but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for her and she was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the bakkie sustained moderate injuries. ER24, and the Provincial EMS, transported the patients to hospital for further medical care.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics the police were on the scene for further investigations.
