The Midvaal Local Municipality requests motorists to be vigilant when driving on the R59 and use the highway with caution as there are incidents of stone-throwing and violence.

Two trucks have been set alight by protestors on the corner of Morris Street and the Sicelo bridge turn-off tonight (6 May 2019).

By 22:15 the Fire birgade/Emergency services were  still busy extinguishing the fires.

Members of the Police and CPF are also on the scene.

Both lanes of the R59 are currently closed between the Johan le Roux and Meyer off-ramps.
