VANDERBIJLPARK. – A two day Sedibeng Region law enforcement operation under the name ‘O kae Molao’ saw police conducting stop and searches, road blocks, going to scrap yards and taverns not complying with the law last week.
The police, however, found that most taverns comply with regulations.
During the operation police also discovered a 9mm pistol in possession of a foreign national tuck shop owner, the gun did not have a magazine.
The tuck shop owner faces a charge of possession of an illegal firearm.
Fake ciggarettes were also seized from him.
Community members assisted the police by pointing out one of the suspects’ house where he was found in possession of drugs.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, said the suspects arrested will appear at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate court soon.
