SEDIBENG.- Rand Water has announced that it has recently completed a R600 million investment project with construction of the 1300 Ml/d capacity B19 pipeline that will supply raw water from Lethabo Pumping Station to Vereeniging Pumping Station.
This pipeline is now ready to be interconnected to the B11 pipeline and as a result a 54-hour shutdown has been scheduled from the 24 – 27 June 2019. The commissioning of B19 will provide extra raw water capacity as per demand. Technicians will be installing a 2500mm valve at Vereeniging Pumping Station to achieve interconnection between the new B19 and B11 pipeline.
“We do not envisage any loss of water supply during the shutdown. However, due to the duration of the shutdown, certain areas may experience shortage of water or low water flows.”
The following municipal customers have been advised of the shutdown;
City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Mogale City, Rand West Local Municipality, Merafong City Local Municipality, Emfuleni Local Municipality, Rustenburg Local Municipality and the Metsimaholo Local Municipality.
