EVATON.- 35-year-old serial rapist, Buti Ramatsebe, was recently sentenced to four life sentences and an additional 32 years imprisonment.
The charges that he faced include rape, kidnapping and assault.
It is said that Rametsebe, a taxi driver from Mackay Road, Wilberforce in Evaton, was a habitual rapist who preyed on innocent women.
Among the cases, is a case where Ramatsebe forcefully dragged a woman residing in Zone 17 at Thabong Mall in Sebokeng into his taxi and drove with her to a shack in Evaton where he raped her. Ramatsebe also raped a woman, he, together with his accomplice had given a lift in Parktown, Evaton. She was later taken to a shack in Evaton where she was robbed of her jewellery. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Evaton Police spokesperson said that Ramatsebe was a menace to society.
“This guy was dangerous to women.
“In one instance he approached a woman in Extension 11, Evaton and ordered her to stop and then hit her with a steel pipe and pushed her to an open veld, undressed and raped her and thereafter ran away,” Moopeloa said adding that the arrest and sentence of Ramatsebe comes while he was on parole and under correctional supervision for a case of rape for which he had been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
“Sedibeng District police management would like to thank the community for being brave to give evidence in these cases.”
The police management also applaud the investigation officer Detective Constable Nelson Mwale for going the extra mile when investigating these cases.”
