Woman left stranded after house burns down

BARRAGE. - An elderly woman who recently asked her son to look after the house while she went shopping, returned home to find her house in flames.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Simon Mofokatsane, says police are investigating a case of arson after the home was burned down. The owner of the home, Adeline Tshabalala (60), said that she had asked her 20-year-old son to stay at home while she went out. A man told her that he saw her son carrying a plastic bag, running from the scene.
The house and property inside have been severely damaged by the fire. “Adeline is traumatised. She will be attending counselling to help her deal with her current situation.”
“She is staying at a friend’s house as she has no property left.” Mofokatsane has urged members of the community to help the police with finding the culprit. Anyone who might have information about the fire or Adeline’s son, can contact Barrage SAPS on (016) 987 6720.
