SA lockdown: Backyard training programme for youngsters

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sedibeng Ster veteran sports journalist Zacharia Nale would like to make a special plea to all the people who are involved in sports: administrators, managers and coaches to encourage their athletes to comply with the 21 days lockdown imposed by the government.

Kgotso Nhlapo is one of the young soccer players who use their backyards of their homes to train due to lockdown.

Nale, who is also, is involved in the development of sports in this country challenges athletes to exercise in the backyard of their homes to keep themselves fit. He attaches the videos where he trains at the backyard of his home to demonstrate how athletes can keep themselves fit especially soccer players. This was after he ran the article of the youngsters playing soccer in the street despite the warning by the President Cyril Ramaphosa about social distance due to the coronavirus disease. “What I saw was shocking to see those youngsters taking a risk when they play soccer in the street. That was a high risk and being involved in the development of football it is also my responsibility to create awareness,” he said. Nale challenges coaches and managers to design a training programme for youngsters in the comfort of their own homes.
