
Sedibeng Ster Sport camera captured some of the athletes hard at training at their own backyard.
This is to keep themselves fit while waiting to resume with their normal training and playing programme. To date, all the sporting activities has been suspended until further notice due to COVID-19.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, some of them say it is not easy to train at their own while others claim they enjoy each and every moment training at their own.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, one of the amateur soccer player, Karabelo Malapela say it is not easy training at their own but they follow their coaches’s programme.“It is unusual to train at our own especially during the course of the season. The only time we train at our own it is during the Christmas break or in the pre-soccer season.
Sebokeng Ajax FC, coach Master Zondo says technology has made things easier for them as coaches.
“We had to come up with a strategy as coaches to design programme for our players and I must say the response is positive and thanks to technology,’ he told said.
Norman Dlomo, one of the former South African Top Athletes says with athletics this lockdown doesn’t affect them as much because runners are used to training at their own.
“For us we are used to this situation training at our own but now the only different is that athletes must training at home and I have no doubt that they are coping well compare to other sporting codes,’ he concludes.
PSL referee Victor Hlungwani said they are also following the instruction from the President Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister that we should wash our hands with soap for 20 seconds. Hlungwani also said people should use water sparingly cause South Africa is a water stressed country as we don’t have enough water in SA. “South Africa let’s stay home to defeat this pandemic otherwise we will not defeat it and people are dying in the world. Let us respect our law enforcement agencies because they are protecting us.”
