URC donates to the needy

The church is one of the oldest churches in the history of the South African churches.

SHARPEVILLE. – United Reformed Church (URC) in Southern African donated clothes and food parcels to the needy community members of a squatter camp in Sharpeville recently.
The members of the church said that this is part of an initiative to plough back in the community.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the church’s Reverend Thebe, said that it is the churches responsibility to look after the community, not only the congregations. He said the initiative is in partnership with their overseas partners. The church is one of the oldest churches in the history of the South African churches.
“It is our responsibility to look after the community especially those who are desperate for help. We all know that church members and community at large in this world were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope this contribution will make a difference and as a church we are grateful to have assisted where we could,” he concluded.
