“Less than 20 minutes after Mabusela left the offices we suddenly heard a gunshot and later as we were preparing to go out have a look, someone came running to the office in tears saying Mvula had been shot to death,” said Jabulane Nkabinde, the Deputy Secretary of ITA.
Nkabinde said that he rushed to Mabusela and asked him what had happened.
“He was still breathing, but he looked at me and and succumbed to his death. We were told that before the incident, there were about three occupants waiting inside a car nearby and at the time Mabusela went into the shop in the shop, one of the occupants went out to the change the rear registration of the car. The man was seen putting on a new registration on top of the old one. The other two male occupants were seated inside their car. Immediately at the time Mabusela walked closer, he was approached by one of those waiting in the car and suddenly a sound of four bullets was heard,” said Nkabinde.
The three occupants were later seen speeding off in the getaway car.
The police and paramedics were called to the scene and Mabusela was declared dead on the scene.
