VANDERBIJLPARK. – The morning silence in the town’s business center was disturbed early on Friday morning, 12 November, when a vehicle rushed through the palisade of the Johan Heyns clinic.

The vehicle, which apparently belonged to a policeman, was hijacked during the night and chased by police members.

The hijacker allegedly lost control of the stolen vehicle and burst through the clinic’s fence in Frikkie Meyer Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. The road was blocked for about two hours up to the Barrage road while the SAPS was investigating.
Sergeant Gertrude Makhale of the Police’s communication department confirmed the incident and said that a member of the SAPS as well as the suspect were injured. It is unknown how serious their injuries are. Rumors on social media that a woman died from a bullet wound are untrue.
A case of attempted murder and vehicle hijacking is being investigated.
