Evaton man assaulted and shot for beer
The owner of the tavern is said to have shot the victim on the thigh as he ran to his place to seek assistance.

EVATON. – A man and his wife were arrested yesterday and charged with attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) following an incident that happened recently.
It is said that at around 1:00 the Evaton police arrested the couple after a complainant alleged that on Sunday, he went to a tavern in Adams Road Evaton, he noticed a lady that looks like a daughter of the tavern owner and gave her a cash to buy him a beer.
Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Thulisile Msibi said: “He seated inside the tavern waiting for his beer, and then he went to the wife of the owner of the tavern and told her that he gave her daughter money to buy him beer and she never pitched up, the wife asked her daughter if the complainant gave her money.” She apparently denied this. It is alleged that the owners’ wife took out a sjambok and told him that he had started with his games and hit him. She was allegedly assisted by her employees in the beatings.
“He apparently managed to run away, but they followed him and caught him,” Msibi said. The owner of the tavern is said to have shot the victim on the thigh as he ran to his place to seek assistance, and he was taken to a nearby clinic for medical assistance. The suspects will soon appear in the magistrate court.
