The Safer Schools Campaign tour Gauteng today saw the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko visit various schools and Early Childhood Development Centres (ECD) in the Sedibeng region.

SEDIBENG. –  Mazibuko was accompanied by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, District Commissioner of Sedibeng, Major General Zodwa Molefe and Station Commander of Sebokeng, Brigadier Sedikwe Mokoena.

The delegation had the opportunity to visit Boitumeo Secondary School as well as Mohaladitoe Secondary school in zone 10 where they met with learners.

Lieutenant General Mawela engaged with the learners and encouraged them to be ambassadors of change within their communities.

The delegation also handed over dignitary packs to learners during the visit.

Mazibuko says, “”We are training future leaders by teaching our learners,” said MEC Faith Mazibuko. The School Governing Body should be part and parcel of growing the school,

Members of the SAS who also formed part of the visit gave anti-bullying and anti-gangsterism talks at the school.

The police say the safety of children remains a top priority for police in Gauteng as the new academic year commences across inland provinces.

Through the Safer Schools Campaign it is evident that “It takes a village to raise a child”.
