
MEYERTON. – The gathering was held at the Old Apostolic church in Sicelo and families of victims attended in numbers.
Police Spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi reports that about 8 cases of femicide that occurred in open velds in Sicelo were reported at the Meyerton SAPS between 2018 and 2021.
The police together with the community took the initiative and embarked on various awareness campaigns in addressing the murders.
“They went as far as cleaning one open veld where one of the murders took place. This shows the commitment to root out all crime in the area.
“Police are appealing to anyone with information or who might know who the suspects involved are in these incidents to come forward with information.

Moloi states that all information given will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
Midvaal Local Municipality Mayor Peter Teixeira stated that as the municipality, they will strengthen the working relationship with the community and stakeholders in fighting gender based violence in Sicelo, adding that more activities will be activated for youth development.
Meyerton SAPS Station Commander Colonel Moeti Lepitla, Ambassador Nhlanhla Sizani, Policing, and business Owner Ali Mahommed handed over gifts to the families.
