ER24 paramedics arrived at 19h07 on Tuesday evening to find one light motor vehicle in the road while the other had come to a stop on the side of the road.
On closer inspection, medics found four women lying trapped inside one vehicle. Assessments showed that one woman had sustained fatal injuries while the three others were in critical condition.
Medics used specialised rescue equipment to free the women from the car.
Once released, the women were treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to Sebokeng Provincial hospital for urgent care.
It is understood that another service on the scene treated other patients from the second vehicle.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
