SEBOKENG.-This was as they commemorated World Epilepsy Day.
Center Manager, Thapelo Monyeke said: “The aim of the event is to raise awareness about epilepsy in the community, to strengthen the epilepsy movement and to encourage discussions about it.”
The event was graced by Ward 32 Councilor ,Kgatla Diutlwileng. Care Giver, Alice Phayane from the center remembered those who had lost their lives due to epilepsy and gave a supporting message to those who are struggling to deal with the condition.
Hans Tjege from Epilepsy SA Gauteng said: “International Epilepsy Day, celebrated each year on the 2nd Monday of February, is an opportunity to raise awareness of epilepsy, what it is, how it can be treated, and what is needed to bring treatment to those who need it.”
Goodwill Phayane from Epilepsy Free State & Northwest stated that the gesture of Candle Lighting would give everyone a chance to honour the memories of those who have been lost to death by epilepsy.
Portia Maboya from the NYDA invited the community to be take part in the last item of the day which was to revamp the centre.
