Elections have come and gone…so what?

Humble yourself and treat people with respect.

SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) elections have come and gone and so what?

Tempos were flying high prior to the elections with certain football administrators calling each other by all sorts of names they found in the dictionary just for positions. Let me repeat myself, football is not about positions.

I said to some of the development coaches on our soial media platform for coaches that – some of us don’t need positions to make an impact when it comes to the development of football in this region. Matter of Fact, you can be powerful without a position and still make a lot of impact in the development of our football.

TOUCHLINE doesnt understand why people were so angry prior to the elections calling each other by names especially those who oppose them. For what? We are a very sick society that thinks positions are everything in our football. It is even sad when people with no football brains want to lead those armed with knowledge. How so! What TOUCHLINE has learned from these elections is that you take poor coaches to tarvens and buy them alcohol and after getting drunk you influence them to vote for you.

Recently the Sedibeng football administrators have developed a very bad culture of campaigning for elections, and they will do everything to get positions. It is easy to influence a drunk person unlike a sober minded person. This is how much some of football administrators are desperate in this region because they want to use the development of our football as a stepping stone for their own glory.

It is an insult for our football to think that every Tom, Dick, Harry can run our football even if he doesn’t have know how. Why do you have to campaign if you are hundred percent sure that you are capable of running our football. Why do you influence people to vote for you if you belong to football?

TOUCHLINE always hears people saying, “I know football politics”, but the truth is that we don’t care if you know football politics or not. Our football doesn’t need people who think they know football politics but people who will serve football regardless of their political affiliation or status.

TOUCHLINE advise to the development coaches and managers is that – your responsibilities is for your clubs to produce more players because Sedibeng is well known for producing household names for years now. Those with long memories can attest to this, that this region is a feeder to the South African football when it comes to football administrators, coaches, referees and players.

The current crop of football administrators are quick to tell everyone who cares to listen that they know football politics in this region. What does politics have to do with our football if I may ask? There is nothing special about knowing football politics because this is the reason why our football is not progressing. TOUCHLINE’S advise to you is that, don’t be arrogant just because now you are happen to be in power or voted in power for the second term. Lastly, TOUCHLINE wants to take this opportunity to congratulate those who have been elected to lead the Emfuleni Local Football Association for the next four years.

Humble yourself and treat people with respect.
