SDN launches Men’s forum

all men's forum are being recognized by the office of the president and Premier.

VEREENIGING. The Executive Mayor of Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) Councillor, Lerato Maloka and the Sedibeng Men’s Sector Forum marched to hand over the memorandum of complaint the Vereeniging Chief Magistrate before the relaunching of the Men’s Forum on 7 April.

The community and officials said they are concerned about the GBV and that men are also the victim of abused. Part of the complaintsbput to the Magisttate was that most of the cases of rape, assault and domestic violence are been opened by the public and there’s no justice.

The march was joined by various stakeholders that included the regional secretary of the Contralesa Dr Chief Kekana, Veli Shongwe of Gauteng department of social development Mens forum, Sedibeng MMC for Roads and Infrustrature Skosinathe ‘Energy’ Ndwadwe, Peter Kele, Chairperson of Sedibeng Rapid Response TasK Team on GBV and femicide, Jabu Mbongo among the dignitaries.

Chief Kekana appealed to other men and women to stand together in the battle against gender based violence. “The common goal is to rebuild the nation. We are indigenous of our country the future lies in our hands.”

Shongwe said all men’s forum are being recognized by the office of the President and Premier. He said it will be good to also start or support the boys forums.
