Taxi driver shot and killed in Sharpeville

A taxi driver was shot and killed outside his home in Putswastene, Sharpeville,  in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

SHARPEVILLE.- It was reported that the victim was leaving his residence, where he revesered out his driveway. The victim proceeded to close his gate, and on returning to his Quantum minibus, a gunman drove past and opened fire. He was allegedly shot by a man at around 05:00 in the morning. Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Maria Letsele said that the driver is still to be named, once his family has been informed.  Letsele said that that the suspect seems to have appeared from nowhere before he started shooting at the deceased.

“The gunman sped away in a silver VW Polo. The motive behind the killing is still under investigation as no arrest has been made. A case of murder was opened.”
