In fact, Banyana Banyana is the best performing national team compared to the rest, including Bafana Bafana. Sadly this is regardless of not having sponsorship compared to Bafana Bafana, that should otherwise be known as “Wafa Wafana”.

Banyana Banyana has become the giant of African women football with their current domination especially against Nigeria, which at one stage conquered  African women football. Things have changed with Banyana Banyana taking over in African women football. Banyana Banyana’s performance at the 2022 Women African Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) is something that we can’t ignore as a nation. They have brought some dignity back to the country, that  Bafana Bafana have dented for years now. Thanks to Coach Desiree Ellis for turning our women national team around to a force to be reckoned with in African football. TOUCHLINE hopes they will go all the way to the final of the WAFCON and be crowned the African women champions.

As things stand, it seems as if it is mission possible for Banyana Banyana.

No doubt, this is achievable especially after beating Nigeria, which at one stage was regarded as the African women powerhouses. TOUCHLINE challenges SAFA to start taking women football seriously in this country. For years now SAFA has invested in Bafana Bafana even if the team continues to fail us by not qualifying for major tournaments. We should be ashamed of ourselves as a football nation when our men’s national team does not to qualify for African Cup Of Nations.

This has nothing to do with the development of our football but a lack of identity as a country.
