Community wants a share in the R58 million zone 17 clinic

The frustrated community of Ward 2 in Zone 17, Sebokeng held a demonstration during President Cyril Ramaphosa's cabinet Imbizo on Friday.

SEBOKENG.- The residents had apparently been told that Ramaphosa would be visiting their area to have a look at the ‘unfinished’ R58 million zone 17 clinic that was finished almost five years ago but is still not functioning to date.

Resident, William Mofokeng said that now that Ramaphosa was said to be visiting the area there was suddenly an electric construction company doing some work at the clinic. Mofokeng said that they were also concerned about the employment prococess at the project as most Wrad 2 residents were not employed at the project even though it is in their ward.

“We have submitted a copy of our memorandum to the office of the President and at Johann Heyns Clinic. Although we receive a corresponce but we have never been invited for talk.”

Asked why they were picketing outside the clinic, Mofokeng said that they were promised by Minister Pravin Gordan on Wednesday that Ramaphosa would be passing by on the day, Friday.
