Patrollers receive security certificates from ELM and Wenzile
Over seventy young patrollers were left ecstatic when they received security certificates from the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and Wenzile Phapama Security Company in Sharpeville last week.

SHARPEVILLE. – The awarding of the certificates followed a program which was a partnership between the ELM and Wenzile Phapama Security Company.
Mkhonto we Sizwe (MKMVA) Provincial Chairperson, Daddy “Brownson” Thinane also played a part in facilitating the program.
The recipients are currently involved in voluntarily patrolling the streets of different areas of the township, keeping them safe and amongst others keeping safe important infrastructure such as electrical substations. ELM Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Safety, Ndade Mokoena handed the certificates to the young volunteer street patrollers.

The ELM said that in order for the young people not find themselves in conflict with the law they needed to be qualified and certificated for the voluntary work that they do as they protect communities. This will also serve as a reward for them as they can now also be employable.
Wenzile Phapama Security Company came on board and carried all the costs of the intensive three months course and even went as far as paying for their Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) registration.
“We remain proud to be associated with businesses like Phaphama Wenzile that are committed to rebuilding our communities and make a contribution to keeping our country and Emfuleni safe to live in.” said MMC Mokoena.
