Sedibeng Netball hosts 2nd Sports Substance Abuse Games

Apart from netball games, there were also U/17 Top 8 games, boot camp, and aerobics in support of this initiative.

SEBOKENG.- Sedibeng Netball hosted 3rd Sports Again Substance Abuse at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14 recently.

Apart from Sports Against Substance Abuse, the games also formed part of the ongoing awareness campaign for the 2023 Netball World Cup scheduled to take place in Cape Town from 28 July – 6 August. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng Netball Federation President, Fakazile Nkitseng said that they used this campaign to achieve their objective as a federation.

She said some of the things they want to achieve through this awareness and sports against substance abuse campaigns are to address issues of drugs through sports, to raise funds for netball regional teams, and for the national netball championships.

These games were graced by the presence of the Emfuleni Local Municipality’s (ELM) Ward 31 Councilor, Sibongile Napo.

“We will like to thank the Department of Sports and Recreation for their support of this initiative and other sponsors who made this event a success. Sport must be seen as a tool to fight against any illegal substance especially drugs and crime within our communities,” she told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
