8-year-old girl dead after being struck by vehicle

8-year-old Bonolo Motshoeneg died on the scene after she was hit by a vehicle on the K55 road

SHARPEVILLE. – The Motshoeneng family is mourning their little angel, 8-year-old Bonolo Motshoeneg, who died on the scene after she was hit by a vehicle on the K55 road. The incident happened near Tshepiso and Boipatong on Sunday, 30 July.

The Grade 3 learner at Kgomoco Primary School in Sharpeville was with her aunt and a family friend when the accident happened.

An inconsolable mother of two, Ntswaki Mofokeng told Sedibeng Ster that her life will never be the same after losing her firstborn child in such a painful manner.

“Bonolo had accompanied my little sister and an older family friend to go and fetch wood. On their way, Bonolo was struck by a vehicle. Everything happened within a blink of an eye. No one can say how Bonolo got into the road.

“One of the kids came to fetch me, and when I arrived at the scene, the police and emergency services were on the scene. I am so broken by what happened to my child,” she said.

Describing her daughter, Ntswaki said Bonolo was a hard worker, playful and ever-happy. “I’m going to miss her immensely.”

Bonolo’s grandmother, Mmathabang Mokoena 53 said the family would try to accept God’s will as painful as it is, adding that there is nothing more to say as being upset won’t bring back her granddaughter.

Police were on the scene for further investigation. Sedibeng Ster has inquired with the local police for comment.
