Bophelong mom mourns son (6) in suspected poison tragedy

An inquest docket has been opened at Vanderbijlpark SAPS after a six-year-old boy died on allegation of being poisoned.

BOPHELONG – Itumeleng Tseko (28), mother to Bokamoso (6) is mourning her son’s passing after he allegedly fell victim to poison.

On Tuesday, March 04, little Bokamoso, a grade 2 pupil at Seeiso Primary School, had a seizure before collapsing and died a block away from his home in Extension 7.

The unfortunate incident made it to social media platforms, with many speculating what might have happened to the young boy.

When Ster visited her at her two-room shack, overcome with grief, Itumeleng sat on her bed, tears flowing as she recalled the final moments shared with her beloved son.

Speaking to the Paper, Itumeleng said she received a call reporting her son deceased.

“I last saw my son on Saturday when I visited a dwelling on the outskirts of Bophelong. I received a call alerting me of his passing. I wasn’t told much, except the fact that he had a seizure,” she said.

Bokamoso said the last image playing on her head is when she left her son.

“I gave Bokamoso and her sister R20 and his smile as they went to buy sweets is the last image I have,” she said.
Bokamoso’s grandmother, Arabang (40) said she was called to the scene after the incident happened.

“Around 3:00 I was called to the scene and the people who fetched me said Bokamoso has passed on in Extension 7. When I got to the scene, I found him covered in a scotch blanket and I was told he just vomited.

“The story I received is that he was blue and vomiting foam. He couldn’t speak, and his eyes were rolling. The residents claim they tried to save him by giving him milk and water, but nothing could have saved him,” she said.

The family has since requested assistance in burying little Bokamoso.

Vanderbijlpark police spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu said an inquest docket was opened and investigations are underway to determine the cause of death.
