Clean water flows down Steelpark streets

VEREENIGING – Clean water has allegedly been flowing down the streets in Steelpark. According to a complaint from residents, this is due to a burst pipe on Anton Stegman Street in Homer. Residents alleged that they had called the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) numerous times regarding the issue but to date, the issue has not been resolved.
A concerned resident from the area said there was no feedback from the municipality after reporting the issue and asking them to fix the burst pipe.
“Millions of litres of drinking water have been flowing down the dirt road while we are on level one restrictions.”
The resident said he had reported the matter on every platform with no positive feedback from the ELM.
Level 1 water restrictions have been introduced in the municipal area as of October 16. The restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways and fill up swimming pools between 06:00 and 18:00. These measures are expected to remain in effect until the restriction is lifted.
Media Relations Officer,Chuchi Radebe said he would get the ELM water department Metsi-a-Lekoa to look into the matter.
