SASOLBURG – A midnight chase in the open veld of Wonderfontein led to the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect with alleged stolen loot.
According to police, the Fezile Dabi District Infrastructure Task Team and Highway Patrol pounced on the suspect on March 13, after getting a tip-off about suspicious activity.
The operation turned into a foot trace when a trio ditched a Nissan NP200 packed with stolen goods and bolted into the night.

In a statement, Fezile Dabi police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani confirmed the incident. “Upon arrival, officers discovered an abandoned Nissan NP200 loaded with stolen property. The three suspects fled the scene on foot into the veld,” said Rani.
Rani said the swift response was a success, seeing one suspect nabbed near a truck filling station, while his two accomplices vanished into the darkness.
“The vehicle and stolen property were confiscated. The arrested suspect is set to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon,” she said.
Police are still looking for the other two suspects. If you have any information, call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
