Police fight against crime continues

The operation prioritised the arrests of wanted suspects, visible policing patrols, and liquor license compliance enforcement.

MIDVAAL. – Police arrested more than 150 suspects for various crimes in the Kliprivier and Meyerton areas on March 20.
This was as Sedibeng District Police Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho led an integrated Operation Shanela.

The operation prioritised the arrests of wanted suspects, visible policing patrols, and liquor license compliance enforcement. Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela confirmed the operation led to the arrest of 154 suspects for various crimes.

“Police continue to make strides in the fight against crime. Members issued 12 traffic fines, worth R6 500, to those who contravened the rules on our roads.”

Maxambela stated that police carried out two campaigns in the form of an imbizo where the Sedibeng District management engaged elderly people about matters of crime in communities they live in, as well as interacting with members of the community through a door-to-door campaign which saw 250 information pamphlets distributed.

Mukwevho congratulated members for their efforts to rid the district of criminal elements.
