DE DEUR – There were more boots on the ground during a high-density operation carried out in the De Deur policing precinct on April 5.
The operation was carried out in conjunction with men and women in blue from various police stations in Sedibeng District, the Gauteng Traffic wardens, and their PPIs.
The operation started with a parade led by De Deur station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Anver Hammond, together with Captain Mzimkhulu Mthimkhulu.
Police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola states that the operation was geared towards curbing criminality and combating crime in the area.
Speaking to Ster North, Mahlomola said members were divided into two groups and were deployed to all three sectors in De Deur.
“The operation commenced at 08:30 and ended at 17:00. During this time, police visited various places including Roshnee, Tshepong, Lakeside Estate, Weilers Farm. Thulamtwana,Walkerville, Sinqobile Informal Settlement and Rust-ter-vaal.”
Mahlomola said the operation was intended to reassure members of the community of SAPS’ commitment to fighting crime and lawlessness. The operation also ensured public safety and security, and intensified police visibility in De Deur.
Revealing the success achieved, Mahlomola said that 14 undocumented people were arrested, 18 houses were searched, 56 vehicles were searched, 105 people were searched, and five people were arrested for possession of illicit drugs.
“All the arrested people will appear in a court of law soon.” Hammond applauded all the members for exceptional work and thanked them for executing their duties diligently and making their presence felt in the area.
