Evaton Warriors Basketball Club rewards its players

"We look back at 2025, and I can proudly say we have done well as a team," said Jappie Hlalele.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Evaton Warriors Basketball Club hosted its year-end awards ceremony at the Riverside Sun Hotel to celebrate the club’s successful 2025 season.

This ceremony was also to recognise and reward players for their performances throughout the year.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Jappie Hlalele said this ceremony was to reflect on the season and proudly acknowledge the club’s achievements and individuals who excelled.

Evaton Warriors competed in the St Eagles Basketball League in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Despite the demanding travel schedule, the club’s U16 team finished third in the league, while the U18 side was crowned league champions.

Hlalele told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this is a remarkable achievement considering that they had to travel to Johannesburg every weekend.

He also revealed most of the club’s players represented the Sedibeng region at the OR Tambo Soncini Games held in Johannesburg earlier this year.

“We look back at 2025, and I can proudly say we have done well as a team. The commitment of our players was something to admire, regardless of our demanding schedule. They always gave their best in every game. The St Eagles Basketball League is one of the toughest leagues, yet we competed against the best and beat them. I want to say thank you to everyone for your support, especially the parents and the Evaton community,” said Hlalele.
