PARYS – The Fezile Dabi District Commissioner, Major General Moses Makubo, hosted a Medal Parade and Conferring of Ranks ceremony at the Tumahole Master Nakedi Sports Centre on January 20.
The ceremony honoured police members for their years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to the SAPS.
During the event, a total of 36 Constables were promoted to the rank of Sergeant, while five Sergeants were promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer.
Service medals were awarded:
* 12 members received 30-year service medals
* 5 members received 20-year service medals
* 82 members received 10-year service medals
In his keynote address, Makubo congratulated all recipients and emphasised the significance of the new responsibilities entrusted to them.
He reminded the promoted members that they are expected to lead by example, as junior members will look to them for guidance, command, and direction.
He further encouraged them to be prepared for future challenges and to demonstrate through their conduct why they are deserving of their medals and newly conferred ranks.
The District Commissioner also urged members to uphold and protect the image of the SAPS by rendering services with professionalism and a positive attitude at all times.
He emphasised that police members are the face of the organisation and encouraged them to work diligently in building a legacy that will be remembered with pride throughout their careers.
