Cyclist killed on Barrage Road

A quiet morning turned sad when a cyclist was killed in a collision on Barrage Road.

VANDERBIJLPARK – A man in his 50s has died following a collision on Barrage Road in the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident happened at around 5:00 as the man was attempting to cross the busy road. He was struck by a Mazda sedan.

The damaged bicycle was found a short distance away from where the collision occurred.

Police cordoned off the area for several hours while emergency services personnel attended the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Several passers-by turned into bystanders as they watched the police accident unit investigating the scene.

Ster has contacted the local police for a formal statement. At the time of publication, the police had not yet provided a comment.
