NASGB wishes matric learners well for final exams
NASGB wishes matric learners well on their upcoming final examinations.
The National Association of School Governing Bodies (NASGB) in Sedibeng wishes all Grade 12 learners the best with their final examinations starting on October 13.
The NASGB Secretary, Thabiso Radebe, said, “We commend you for your perseverance, commitment and endurance in reaching this important milestone of completing your 12 years of schooling. You have come a long way, and now is not the time to give up. Keep your focus, remain disciplined and dedicate yourselves to your examination preparations.”
Radebe reminds families, parents and guardians that their support during this crucial time is essential.
“Educators, district officials, School Governing Bodies (SGBs) and other stakeholders have contributed to the learners’ educational journey. We appeal to parents, guardians and community members to give learners unconditional support during this important period. This is their race.”
Radebe warned against placing unnecessary pressure on learners, citing that they need guidance, encouragement and understanding to help them reach the finish line. He stresses that excessive pressure can place learners under severe emotional and mental stress.
“Let us create a supportive environment in which every learner feels valued and encouraged. Remember that every learner has the potential to succeed. Learners in both primary and secondary schools, we urge you to use the festive season responsibly. Avoid dangerous behaviour and activities that could put your lives or futures at risk.”
The association urges learners facing difficult circumstances, anxiety or emotional distress to reach out to relevant government departments, community organisations or local NGOs for assistance and support.
“Prevention is always better than regret. Voluntary counselling and other support services can also help learners manage stress, anxiety and challenging situations.”
Radebe reiterates that writing examinations is an important part of the educational journey.
“While examinations can produce good results, some learners may not achieve the results they hoped for on their first attempt. Failure is not the end. Sometimes it is simply a delay before another opportunity.”
Radebe reminds learners about the Department of Basic Education’s second-chance opportunities for learners who wish to rewrite their matric examinations and improve their results.
“There are also further education and training opportunities, including programmes offered through TVET colleges, which can provide alternative pathways towards achieving your goals.”
“African child, your dreams are valid. Continue working towards your personal goals, believe in yourself and use every opportunity available to build a better future. To all our Grade 12 learners, remain focused, believe in yourselves and finish strong. We wish you success in your final examinations. Go forward with courage, determination and hope.”
