Blind entrepreneur changes lives through art
Thoothe has given back to his former school through a mural that will deliver a strong message to learners of Thuo-Tiro for generations to come.
Thabang Thoothe, a former student of Thuto-Tiro Engineering School of Specialisation, has delivered a strong message against bullying, substance abuse, gangsterism, and discrimination through a tailor-made mural at the school.
Through the project, Thoothe calls on learners, teachers, parents and the community at large to build a safer, brighter future together.
The mural is the first of its kind campaign by Zuum360, a company founded by Thoothe. The campaign is a partnership with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture through the Mzansi Golden Economy Programme.

The unveiling of the mural, carried out during Heritage Month, was a special day for the school and the surrounding community. The event saw learners, educators and guests gathered to see a message for the whole school community come to life, written in the language the community speaks.
Toothe is a long-time entrepreneur with a background in communications, marketing and project management. Over the years, he has built a career with the belief that an individual’s success is strongest when it benefits the community.

Thoothe, who is currently blind, once saw the world with his own eyes. He lost his sight due to medical ailments.
“I did not let my situation stop me. I kept building, leading, and creating. Nothing is too big or too small, you have to put your mind and your effort,” he said.
Thoothe said that giving back to a place where his journey started is fulfilling. He hopes that the mural will give Thuto-Tiro learners hope for generations to come.
