Sedibeng Men’s Netball players secure national U23 call-up

SEDIBENG.- Three promising male netball players from Sedibeng have earned call-ups to the Men’s National U23 Team following standout performances at the recent national championships.
Siyabulela Mpinda, Nkosi Kubeka and Quen Viljoen secured their places in the national squad after representing Sedibeng Netball at the annual tournament held at Nelson Mandela University in the Eastern Cape from October 4 to 10. They were among five Sedibeng men invited to trials, with the trio ultimately making the final selection.
The senior team also travelled to the tournament alongside the younger squads.

This team finished fourth in the tournament.
The trio’s inclusion capped a successful campaign for the Sedibeng U23s, who brought home a bronze medal.
The side was guided by coach Irwin ‘Bashin’ Thaba, who earlier this year led the Sedibeng teams to a gold medal and an U19 silver medal at the Telkom Netball Championships.
Sedibeng Netball Federation Chairperson Fakazile Nkitseng shared the news with Sedibeng Ster Sport, expressing immense pride in the players and management for flying the region’s flag high despite ongoing financial challenges.
“As Sedibeng Netball, we want to congratulate the players who have been selected for the men’s national team. They really deserve it, and to those who were not selected, there is always next time,” she concluded.
