SEBOKENG.- Team SMASH collaborated with the Lesedi la Bacha organisation, which deals with issues of drugs, to organise an extravagant talent show at Qedilizwe High School in Evaton recently.

The SMASH Vaal High Schools Campaign originates from the Vaal, with Surprise Mbhele as its founder. The team focuses on various talents, particularly in the arts, including singing, acting, dancing, poetry, and motivational speaking.

Mbhele (28), who is also a DJ from Zone 12 in Sebokeng, stated that their unique selling point is their mission to change the lives of younger students in schools, steering them away from substances and drugs. They specifically target talented learners in high schools to nurture their skills.

The SMASH team graced Qedilizwe High School with their presence, where learners showcased their talents. Ten learners from Grades 8-12, from disadvantaged families, were selected, and SMASH donated shoes to them.

Maleshwane Mothombeni, Qedilizwe’s Principal, expressed her pride in SMASH’s presence: “The learners had the opportunity to showcase their talents and take a break from their studies. I appreciated the event’s message, especially considering the drug issues we face.”
