Help make Naledi’s dream a reality

Naledi Mafale’s wish is to inspire kids her age, showing them that everyone has a talent and that it is possible to pursue it.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Her drawing has captured the hearts of her teachers, friends, and family.

Naledi Bonolo Mafale, a 9-year-old girl from the streets of Vanderbijlpark, has not only excelled in her classes but has also displayed remarkable talent in the arts, referring to herself as the “great artist”.

Her drawings are truly phenomenal. Mafale’s passion for drawing ignited at a very young age; she started drawing at age 4. Watching tutorials of people drawing on YouTube and drawing with her uncle, Ikageng Mafale, served as her inspiration.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Mafale expressed that drawing makes her happy; she draws everything she sees on YouTube, and when she draws, it feels like she is in her own relaxed and perfect world.

Her dream is to create a colouring book for her peers, as there are limited colouring books for fashion. The idea of creating a colouring book was proposed by her uncle, and Naledi eagerly agreed, wanting to inspire her peers. She wishes for people to see her art and feel inspired by it.

Mafale’s Grade 1 and 2 teachers were astonished by her drawings.

Mafale stated that she wants to see her artworks displayed in art galleries, and exposed to the public and media someday in the future, if not soon; this has always been her dream ever since she started drawing.

Her uncle encourages her and helps her look for opportunities. He inclines to enter her into competitions to enhance her abilities and showcase her drawings to the world, using her collections to enhance human knowledge and understanding.

One of Naledi’s favourite drawings.

Mafale’s wish is to inspire kids her age, showing them that everyone has a talent and that it is possible to pursue it. Mafale not only inspires her friends but also her uncle and younger siblings, who have now started drawing as well.

Ikageng Mafale (39), the uncle, said: “Naledi is the greatest artist I have ever seen; she is an amasing artist at her young age. I am very proud of her, and I want her to go far in life. I also believe that Naledi’s talent can take her to the world.”

For Mafale to reach her dream of creating a colouring book for her peers, she needs donations, sponsors, or publishing companies to make her dream come true. For more information, contact Ikageng Mafale at 067 856 9855.
