Local football clubs complete un the inaugural Nando’s tournament

The tournament was held across different age categories and included teams such as Celta Academy from Evaton, Waldrift United FC from Waldrift, Future Stars Academy from Sasolburg, and Saints FC from Vanderbijlpark.

Five local football clubs recently participated in the inaugural Nando’s Tournament, hosted by Flair Feet Stars FC at its home ground Curro Vanderbijlpark. The tournament was held across different age categories and included teams such as Celta Academy from Evaton, Waldrift United FC from Waldrift, Future Stars Academy from Sasolburg, and Saints FC from Vanderbijlpark.

In the U8/9 category, Flair Feet Stars emerged as the champions, while Future Stars finished as the runners-up. In the U11 category, Celta Academy came out as the winner, with Waldrift United as the runners-up.

The U13 category was won by Celta Academy, with Flair Feet Stars FC finishing as the runners-up in their group.

The head coach of Flair Feet Stars FC, Coach Nnamdi John, stated that the purpose of the tournament was to give young football players a chance to display their abilities. Furthermore, the tournament aimed to encourage clubs to compete in a friendly and competitive atmosphere, in addition to fostering cooperation between clubs within a professional and well-organized setup.

“The event went very well and received positive feedback from both players and spectators.  We thank Nando’s for their support in making the tournament a success. The tournament was a testament to the passion for football in the local community, and the commitment of local clubs towards nurturing young talent. It was a great opportunity for players to gain experience and develop their skills, and for clubs to come together and celebrate the beautiful game.  I want to express gratitude to everyone who participated in making the event a success, including the sponsor, coaches, players, parents, referees, and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes,” said Coach John.

Nando’s spokesperson Athos Phytides said the tournament was a great opportunity to bring the community together and celebrate their shared love for football.

At Nando’s, we believe in fostering a strong community spirit and making a difference that’s why we were so pleased to be part of this event. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together in the spirit of friendly competition, and we’re glad that we could provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
