SEBOKENG. – Ncamisile Nobantu Mashinini aka Ness thee DJ is the true meaning of versatility.

Mashinini is a nurse during the week and a DJ on the weekends. The clinical nurse specialist has been in the employ of the Sedibeng District Health Services from 2006, but took an interest in being a DJ in 2023.

She plays Soul, RnB, Afro Pop, and old school Kwaito.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, she said that she is passionate about healing and music. “I have a strong musical background as I grew up in a household where we listened to all kinds of music. I also studied music and have grade one in music. My first official gig was at The Zone in Sebokeng, Zone 12. After that I started posting videos of my DJ-talents and started getting gigs.”

Ness thee DJ said that the DJ space locally is nice but not everyone is welcoming. She also mentioned that reading the crowd is one of her strongest points.

“The biggest highlight in my career as a DJ was when I was playing at Milano Lifestyle in Three Rivers. I got tips from patrons because of the beautiful set I delivered.”

Going forward, Ness thee DJ aims to heal the nation through music.
