Strange but true… Elon Musk’s Vaal Triangle ties

Did you know that the famous, or is it infamous, Elon Musk has distant ties to the Vaal Triangle?

VANDERBIJLPARK – Elon Musk. Hate him or admire him, everyone knows who he is. Few know that his mother, Maye Musk, born Haldeman, was crowned Queen of the Vaal in 1969.

At that time, she was a student at Potchefstroom University’s (NWU) Vanderbijlpark campus.

Vaalweekblad posted a photo of Maye with her first and second princesses, Penny de Beer and Margaret Woodford, in January 1969.

In 2020, Maye said on Facebook that the Queen of the Vaal was her first beauty pageant. The prize money was R100.

According to her, she used the R100 to invest in shares that she sold in 1989 to help Elon go to Canada.
