Metsimaholo condemns illegal sale of proof of residence

The municipality reported the matter to law enforcement, and a case was registered at the Sasolburg police station.

SASOLBURG.- The Metsimaholo Local Municipality has condemned the illegal sale of proof of residence within its jurisdiction.

This fraudulent activity involves the unauthorised use of the municipality’s letterheads, which recently surfaced following an incident in Sasolburg.

The municipality reported the matter to law enforcement, and a case was registered at the Sasolburg police station.

Metsimaholo said the perpetrators are also misusing the names and personal information of councillors to legitimise their operation.

“The municipality reminds residents that valid proof of residence is only issued by ward councillors or the office of the speaker after proper verification. Any other means of obtaining the proof of residence is fraudulent.”

Residents who witness or have information about this crime are urged to report it to the police.
