Toddler among six killed in tragic Meyerton crash
The incident happened on 14 July on the R42 Heidelberg Road near Meyerton.
MEYERTON – A case of culpable homicide has been opened following a devastating accident which claimed the lives of six people including a three-year-old child.
The incident happened on July 14 on the R42 Heidelberg Road near Meyerton.
According to police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, officers were called to the scene, where they found that a light motor vehicle, a Ford Focus had collided with a truck.
“Tragically, all six occupants of the Ford Focus were declared dead at the scene. The victims include three adult females, two adult males, and a three-year-old toddler.”
Zazini said the truck driver survived the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Ford Focus was attempting to overtake the truck when the driver lost control, resulting in the fatal collision.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Sebokeng Mortuary. The investigation is ongoing.
