VANDERBIJLPARK – Spring Day dawned under a dark cloud after two lives were lost in an accident early this morning between 03:00 and 04:00.

The accident occurred just outside town on the Potchefstroom Road near Little Egypt. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

According to emergency responders on the scene, the deceased had NWU logos on their clothing. They were presumably on their way to the NWU campus in Potchefstroom.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. It appears that the driver lost control on the bend and collided with a pole.
