Orange Farm takes a stand on violence against women and children

This event encouraged everyone to rise and speak out against GBV.

ORANGE FARM.- MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko joined the community in Orange Farm to launch the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children last week.

She took part in a candlelight session honouring those who lost their lives to gender-based violence (GBV).

This event encouraged everyone to rise and speak out against GBV, femicide, sexual assault, and child abuse. Together, we can take a stand and work toward a safer, healthier community.

The MEC also encouraged the public to report any acts of violence. She said the department now has 27 designated facilities, including Clinical Forensic Medicine Centres and Thuthuzela Care Centres, with trained staff who provide medical care, forensic services, counselling, and referrals to law enforcement.
