Last group session for GPAPD

“Despite their special needs they need love, care and support and they are valued.”

SEBOKENG.- Gauteng Provincial Association for Persons with Disabilities (GPAPD), Sebokeng sub office, held their last group session for year (support group) at Protective Workshop on Tuesday with few workshops’ beneficiaries.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Dorah Mmekwa, a Social Worker from GPAPD, said that the aim of the session was to thank all group members for being part of the life skills programme since the beginning of the year.

“They were appreciated for contributing positively to all 10 sessions held. The sessions shaped their character, encourage a sense of community, create a space for mutual support, respect and understanding. It also encourages equal opportunity, is safe and non – judgemental. It also offers unconditional positive regard, empathetic and allows a place of sharing practical coping skills.”

As a token of appreciation during the last session group members were treated with a light lunch and snacks, and were wished well during festive season and to stay safe and take care of themselves.
