Skuluma no Katleho!

"I want to see myself playing in Spain because there is not much difference between them and us in how we play football."

BOPHELONG.- S’kuluma no tracked down Katleho Maphisa (13) to find out how it was to train with the Celta Vigo FC development in Spain.

When Sedibeng Ster Sport wrote about this talented midfielder’s impressive performance at the Relebohile Mofokeng Foundation Tournament in Sharpeville last year, little did we know that he would be travelling to Spain in December.

Maphisa and his teammate, Itumeleng Mochela, spent two weeks in Spain training with Celta Vigo development.

Sedibeng Ster Sport predicted Maphisa’s future after his performance at the Relebohile Mofokeng Foundation Tournament. He was outstanding, marshalling the midfield like a seasoned campaigner.

This is what he had to say in an exclusive interview with S’ kuluma no!

Q: How was your experience traveling to Spain?
A: I was nervous because it was my first time on a plane, but Coach Themba helped me settle down. In fact, for both of us, it was the first time we traveled overseas.

Q: How was the training?
A: I don’t want to lie; we had fun, but the only challenge was that it was freezing there. It was either cold or raining. It was a great experience to spend two weeks there, and we were warmly welcomed.

Q: What else did you learn apart from training with the club?
A: I think one of the most important things we learned there was speaking Spanish. We came back knowing how to pronounce and speak some Spanish words.

Q: Where do you want to see yourself in your football career?
A: Without any doubt, I want to see myself playing in Spain because there is not much difference between them and us in how we play football. We play the same type of football, and that is why we didn’t struggle that much.
